In 1982 I also created the local base post card company, Rocky Mountain Impressions, now called Mountain Impressions.
After being the major contributor of a hard cover local and tourist book in Denver, I decided to give back to my community of Crested Butte and published the first ever hard cover book, The Edge of Paradise, in 1989, the request of a soft cover book came just a few years after calling it The Seasons of Paradise in 1993. Crested Butte became filled with photographers and I was the contributor of the third book Where the Road Ends.
Most of my published work came from newspapers, magazines (over 23 Crested Butte Magazine covers) throughout the the world, mainly in Europe and the United States with travel (filling three passports), adventure racing and travel, corporate, annual reports, news for the Associated Press and USA Today, The New York Times, sports for AllSport/Getty Images. Lately for USA Today Sports a combination of ten winter and summer Olympics, America’s Cup Sailing, the Whitbread, Fly Fisherman, Hallmark Cards, USSA and the list goes on, mostly without photo credits.
Creating the human body as art was something that came about as a phase that all artists go through, something like the Blue era of Van Gogh, the Impressionists of Claude Monet, testing and exploring our own limits. I called it Naturally (2009). They were nudes in nature with beauty of nature and the human shapes involved as one.
Enjoying telling stories through photography is my goal, but knowing that one photograph will tell the entire story.
